God calls every man
to live in harmony with Him. We are Christians who have decided to
respond to this call which led us together to help and support each
other daily in being obedient to God’s will.
Although, we had
different backgrounds, we could come to unity because we could see the
emptiness of man-made rituals and formalism in the religious (so called
Christian) circles, which present Christian life and Biblical Christian
fellowship as something very theoretical or even impossible in our
days. We understood that God wants us to come out of such hypocrisy and
we had to repent and decide clearly to follow Jesus wholeheartedly.
My prayer
is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me
through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you
are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may
believe that you have sent me. (John 17:20–21)
We saw in this
prayer of Jesus that His wish for unity and love among Christians was
not only for the Christians in the beginning, or His immediate
disciples but for all “who will believe” in Him
“through their
(disciples’) word”. We do not find this prayer
unrealistic or
theoretical but something that was reality
among the Christians of the New Testament time.
All the
believers were one in heart
and mind ... (Acts 4:32)
We also strive for
the same. We are thankful to have each other as our real brothers and
sisters like in a family wherein our home is truly our fellowship. We
recognized that Jesus wanted this to be the sign for the world so that
they will also see the love of God through the church and repent.
Since we see that
the fellowship of the Christians in the Bible was like a family we
reject all kinds of hierarchical structure or any organizational set-up
for our fellowship. We do not agree with a Christian church having any
name or institutional structure. Jesus wanted something else to be seen
by the world than a name, building or any human personality.
We want to help
each other remain in the right teachings of Jesus and persevere in our
faith until the end. Brotherly fellowship is very important for us so
that we can encourage and be encouraged to live in submission to
God’s
will. We can be biased in assessing our own situations and may feel
helpless but with the help of our brothers we can remain sober to find
God’s leading.
See to it,
brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns
away from the living God. But encourage
one another daily, as long as it
is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s
deceitfulness. We have come to
share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at
first. (Hebrews
3:12–14)
We have different
professions, studies or tasks and we see it is quite possible to
combine these things with our daily devotion in our spiritual family if
we have the right priorities in front of God. We do not see
God’s will
in escaping from the worldly responsibilities like studies, work etc.
(as is understood in some Indian devotional movements). We acknowledge
the command of Jesus to be a testimony for all people by being a holy
nation, quite separate from the world yet living in it.
We do not
acknowledge any present day
personality—“prophet”,
“messiah”, “guru”
etc.—like William M. Branham, Ellen G. White, Joseph Smith,
Watchman
Nee, Ahn Sang-Hong, etc. or their revelations as we see that the Bible
is the complete revelation of God. Neither do we have anything to do
with present day organizations like the Watch Tower Society of the
Jehovah’s Witnesses or the Latter Days’ Saints
(Mormons). We see that
through the Holy Spirit every Christian is able to understand
God’s
will without dependence on such central personalities or organizations.
The only prerequisite of the right understanding of the Bible is an
honest and sincere attitude towards God and his truth.
In this trust we
study the Bible together and share our joy in the Word of God with one
another. We want to extend God’s call also to other people
and
encourage them to decide to live for God. We would be glad to find
other Christian brothers and sisters in India or elsewhere.
